Missing Books Of The Bible

After claiming that the canonical Gospels are unreliable accounts, The Da Vinci Code goes on to claim that other, non-canonical works are more reliable accounts of Jesus’ life (pgs. 242-249).

The non-canonical writings consistently fail to meet the tests for historical reliability.
  • First, most of them, like the Gospel of Thomas were composed a century or more after the events they supposedly record.

  • Second, these writings are typically falsely attributed to apostles or other important church leaders, though these persons had been long dead by the time the books were composed. In other words, the non-canonical writings often contain obvious deceits right from the start.

  • Third, their distribution was so limited that in many cases we do not have even a single full manuscript. Consequently, we have no way of affirming the accuracy of their transmission over time.

  • Fourth, there is little or no corroboration of their factual claims by any other ancient sources.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? - We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, today I am deciding to follow Jesus

Yes, I am already a follower of Jesus
